I seriously don't like rap/hip-hop music and as I wrote before - I don't rate lyrics.

All I can say that this guy flow (is that what it's called?) is not annoying. The breakdown around 2:33 is a nice addition, it shifts the mood.

But I've never met a song with a rapping elements that I'd rate higher than 8/10, so for this one...

Random - Push - 5/10

and here's some heavy metal from Germany, Pink Cream 69 with Andi Deris on vocals. I honestly belive that only their first three albums are worthy of attention.

The Go! Team - Get It Together

I like it. It kind of remind me of a good ol' times of Game One channel. Channel about video games, music that was close to mainstream but not too close to be considered pure mainstream, comic books, books. I was watching it when it was aired in Poland about 1999-2002. They had video games music videos with awesome and original music wich was a great alternative to shitty MTV (wich back then still aired music... crap, still - music, not some moronic shows) or Scooter-like techno oriented VIVA. And that kind of music, like the song above, was also aired.
It's a great song to listen while relaxing or doing something else, and a spot-on tune for a video game. Is that from Little Big Planet btw?
Feel-good song, positive mood and a great breakdown at 2:45 wich is also an ending.

9/10 because it affected me in a good way.

and while I'm being melancholic...

This was a great hit back in a day, at least I thought so as a kid. I used to wait up till late night and watch it on... yes, MTV. Just what the fuck happened to once decent station? Neutral

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Xhdy9zBEws - Röyksopp - Remind me

Also a relaxing tune.

God, I love that song (and video) - then again, I'm also very much a sucker for Erlend Øye's voice... Smile

Too bad Röyksopp's more recent output wasn't as good... Sad

But that song is still a 10/10 in my book.

Here's someone else with a great voice:

Phantom/Ghost - Born With A Nervous Breakdown

(I guess Dirk von Lowtzow is probably better known as the frontman of the German indie rock band Tocotronic, but since most of their songs are German *AND* I ran across Phantom/Ghost first I went with this song...)

np: Tocotronic - Bitte Oszillieren Sie (Schall & Wahn)

Phantom/Ghost - Born With A Nervous Breakdown

Yep, the german accent is noticable.
Not a great voice IMO or the guy isn't simply showing it off in this song. Nevertheless, live act is practicly without any major vocal errors. But his voice seems tired, he looks tired.
Song itself is really minimalistic but goes well with vocals wich are strongly based on repetetive phrase (title).
Not exactly my cup of tea, thus only

7/10

I don't like alternative rock bands (or indie, as so may call them - still bugs me why though). I listened to lot's of them on MTV2 when I was about fourteen, bands like The Strokes, The Interpol and other the bands. And while I admit it, I like some singles (for ex. "Hard To Explain" or "Reptilla" by the previously mentioned The Strokes) their albums are too uneven in terms of equality. Too much uneven. The only exception I remember was the first album of Kasabian wich was... hm... stylish and atmospheric.

Anyway, here is a song that I like very, very much because of it's atmosphere and style. Simple track, but how well excecuted.

Monster In The Machine - Savior

Or for those who want rate something more mainstream-ish... here is a song that anime fans know from Hellsing anime. It was it's ending.

Mr. Big - Shine

Not the best song, technically speaking, of Mr. Big (blame it on the lack of Gilbert who recently returned, along with Billy Sheehan), but a nice one, simple, uplifting one.

Heart of Courage - Two Steps From Hell

I'm not a fan of orchestrated music scores mostly because they're too simmilar to each other. And lately, because of Bethesda evil scheming in Fallout franchise I simply hate it. Worst musical score ever and in comparsion to Mark Morgan atmospheric ambient pieces it's even worse, if that's even possible.

As for this track - 5/10. No less because it was short.

From me - a classic Genesis song :

Santana - Smooth (feat. Rob Thomas)
10/10 OMFG! I didn't even have to follow the link to rate this song. I love this song! And it's some of the best work Carlos Santana have done, he's such a great guitarist... It's the nearest I come to latin music, but when you combinate it with such amazing rock, I can't stay away from it!

Now to something more heavy:
TNT - 10,000 Lovers (In One)

Hrm. Opionions Very Happy.

TNT - 10,000 Lovers In One

I actually never got into this band, but I knew of their existence because their guitarist (a great one) formed Vagabond with Jorn Lande on vocals, so... Very Happy

Nevertheless I like '80's hair metal sound and this, although somewhat generic deserves a

7+/10

And, as I mentioned Vagabond, here's Vagabond Cool.

Vagabond - Do You Like It

Sadly, they've released only two albums and sadly I couldn't find a copy of their CD's anywhere (besides expensive as fukk japanese edition).
I love to listen to them while riding on a bicycle. Very uplifting songs, very hippie-like.

Vagabond - Do You Like It

8/10 Yes I like it Wink Pietja, you're totally right about the guitarist (which name is Ronni Le Tekrø) he's truly amazing. But I have to say I like TNT more than Vagabond and I think the song needs more varietes with a little more power in the first half, thinking of the rest of the song.

I live for thrash metal, and since Pietja have made so many norwegian-influenced posts, I thought I could put in something polish that I'm familiar with:

Turbo - Żołnierz Fortuny

Even though I don't understand it, I don't bother finding out because I like their music anyway.

As much as I respect Polish metal bands I just can't help myself to smile when hearing my language in that kind of music... for me it doesn't fit. We have a long tradition of sung poetry and this is IMO the only good kind of music that goes well with our language.

Anyway, here are lyrics for the Turbo song. My translation.

Spoiler:

KIM - BTTTTRY

As I wrote before Electro Chock is IMO one of the best radio stations in GTAIV. It consists of really energetic tunes and this one is no exception. It has this feeling of being powered by some kind of batteries Smile.

8/10

And now, my latest discovery - progr metal band called Andromeda...

Andromeda - Inner Circle - Pureh prog orgazmo Cool.

Love their sound, compositions, skills. Vocals are varied, yet I still need to get along with them.
Great stuff.

Intro and comp. sounds kickarse, but I just don't like the vocals. To me, it sounds gritty and it sounds like the singer has asthma, distinctly pausing every few words. The pitch also changes too often for me to get into the music. More of a 90's rock and roll fan than metal.

Jerk - Sucked In

Mood and vocals reminded me of Powerman 5000 back when they were good - that means only on Tonight The Stars Revolt album Very Happy.
Nevertheless, in comparsion with the artist above, I can't say I liked it. Call me old, but a noisy song without original composition or a spark of actuall madness (like in the song I'll post below) is a bit annoying.

Thus - 4/10 - I've listened with irritating restlessness.

And, as I talked about touch of madness, may I present to you a very old band with a rich carrer. Legends of avant-garde music orbiting around rock that never revealed their faces... The Residents!

Note : Watch while on nervous system abusive substances! Very Happy

On a scale of 1 to 10 in total, I give it a no.

I think the only way to really enjoy is if you are on a really, really scary acid trip. Followed up by elephant tranquilizers.
It's inanely repetitive, screeching, and the video was just disturbing...

But in all seriousness, I'd give The Residents a 9 for innovation. They are simply expressing themselves, albeit in the experimental music field.

Lament - Light of Aiden
The song which the Halo ODST trailer was based off.

Well, The Residents have been around for too long to be considered as a band only to listened when stoned. As I said previously, I don't rate lyrics but most of The Residents songs have a great and ironic lyrics. Sarcasm. Check out their "Act Of Being Polite" for example. It has a great Poe-esque feel to it.
Personaly, I can't say The Residents music are my kind of music but I do listen to them and they never ceased to amaze me. Because their music is actually something I can call an experience.
I recomend a short movie made by them called "The Gingerbread Man".

Light of Aidan - Lament

Never got into Halo and never liked celtic music. Exept Thin Lizzy but that's a different kind of celtic Very Happy.
And I'm kind of sick about epic pieces full of pathos so...

5/10 from me.

I think I've posted this artist, but Alexander Brandon work with Epic MegaGames was indeed Epic. Nowdays games don't have that good music. I puked in Banjo Kazooie - Nuts and Bolts. I just had to turn down the music.

Alexander Brandon - Jazz Jackrabbit 2 - Labratory Level

or

Alexander Brandon - Jazz Jackrabbit 2 - Castle Level

Your pick.

Guy has his own, unique style. His works - Unreal, Unreal Tournament, Jazz Jackrabbit 2, Turian, Deus Ex. Each one a great game of once great Epic MegaGames wich became not-so-epic Epic Games. And to think that creator of that crap called Gears of War, Cliff Bleshinski (that's right?) once made a jem called Jazz Jackrabbit!
