I'm feeling pretty good about myself right now. I know it's no big deal, but I've updated my strip on time for a month straight now, which is kind of a milestone for me as of now. I've also ended an arc officially for the first time, so that feels good. So I'm taking a 2 week break for now, but not to slack off.
So here's the deal, this break is actually gonna be some for some art excercise. Right now, I think I'm pretty good, but I can do better. I'm gonna be working on ink lines, but for the most part, practicing hair. I wanna work on making it look more detailed, better defined strands and more lighting and shading within. See if I can find a style I'm comfortable with.
I also want to see what I can do about upping my output speed. See, it takes me about 3 1/2 days to crank out a single strip. I wanna try to get that down to 2 1/2. I'd like to eventually put out 2 strips a week, and that's gonna take a while to master. If Immy can do it, I should try too. And the next few strips are gonna take some time, I wanna kick off the next arc strong and get to some questions still in the air.
Alongside all that, I wanna do what I can about fixing up my own site finally. I have a smackjeeves for FJRA, though it's still on default settings. I'm gonna try and get some help from my friends and roomies who are good with programming and web design to help me make it look presentable. Kinda feel bad about constantly posting my strips on other forums, so whoever cares about the strip enough will come to it themselves.
Finally, it may be a bit optimistic, but I'm genuinely trying to get a table at this year's ConnectiCon artist's alley. I'm no groundbreaking artist, but I've gone to this con every year since I've started in 2008, and I could use some publicity. I wanna try making some really good pieces for prints, because I don't really have any at the moment. Maybe some stickers and buttons. I could use some ideas for little things people would like, I honestly don't know, seeing as the comic's not really taken off yet. Maybe do some commissions at the table while I'm there. I'm still open for those and trades here, but since not many are really jumping forward for 'em, I've got room to do some there, which should be fun. I don't care much about the money, I just really wanna do art for others.
Then Frist, why don't you just open up for requests?
Because by this point, I'd like to at least feel like I'm being rewarded for my efforts. Not that I'm not gonna open for requests ever again in the future, I'm just looking for some momentum.
Anywho, that's what's up. I'll be here, working hard!
