I'm one of those who like to talk what they like to do the most. On this New Years Eve (2009, that is) me, my friends and their friends had a big talk about "those" things. Some were laughing, some uncovered things that made some gross out, but all in all - it was a lenghty, entertaining group conversation.

And while we're at it :

New Years Day hungover. Big one. My liver is growling right now and I feel like it stretches from side to side. My head is heavy, I've lost the top of my shaker, forgot name of that girl that I've got friendly with, my right feet is swollen in one place and I don't know why.

But it was a nice NYE party

Well, that's what happens when you drink enough to knock out a horse What grinds your gears? - Page 8 Icon_biggrin . If you were my brother, and I actually do this to him, you would wake up to a pot and ladle solo. Next to people high off their gourds, drunken/hangover people are the second most fun to mess with.

My gear grinder right now is my leg. The pain in my leg had gotten so bad that I went to visit my uncle (who's a doctor). He examined my leg and then sent me to x-ray place for a scan of my leg. Turns out I fractured my femur. That explains alot....

A piece of advice - watch it when around girls with hangover. Been there, had my face scratched, learned my lesson. Hope you'll follow that one Very Happy.

Tough luck about your leg, I kind of know your pain. My feet is swollen, and I guess I've crushed some of my ankle bone.
Although it's not too painfull, walking abilities are limited and on this Saturday me and my friends are planning on going to a New Years Eve afterparty. I know that I just have to go, but I somehow those legions of hot 'n' willing girls will have to suffer without moi on the dancefloor Very Happy.

Ouch, dude. How did you fracture your femur?

Grinding my gears, though I had a great time with my boyfriend and best friend on New Years, watching movies and playing games, I think I have a mild case of the flu. I've been nauseated for three days, can't keep anything in my stomach, and I feel about 20 pounds heavier than I actually am.

my girlfriend is one of those Twilight fans...

What grinds my gears is when the tweenagers are screaming about which "Team" they're for, when you scream "OH MY GOD! WHERE'S LESTAT!" all the dirty looks you get...

Hey, Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt were excellent vampires!

I hate vampires. All kinds. I think they're overrated, arrogant bloodsuckers and 50 of them aren't worth the sweat of 1 werewolf.

HOWEVER, that ain't the point of my post that I'm going to now get to.

I don't care about "teams." Seriously, it's annoying as hell. How about team-shut-the-hell-up-about-your-stupid-teams-shit. Whether it's vamps, werewolves, or frikkin' Dr. Horrible ( I found a Team Horrible shirt...) this whole "team whatever" craze grinds my gears.

I've been there too and still pretty fun to mess with them (clearly I ignore the lesson What grinds your gears? - Page 8 Icon_biggrin) . Last night I slept over at a friend's house because she was having a New Year's party. I woke up before her and was sitting in the kitchen with a cup of tea with the window blinds open. When she walked in, she gave a yell, covered her eyes, and staggered to the table. When she got there, I said, "Beautiful day isn't it?"

She gave me the dirtiest look. Ever. What grinds your gears? - Page 8 Icon_lol

I think it happened when I slammed into a tree while snowboarding, it didn't hurt that much initially so I didn't think much of it until a few days ago. My uncle is giving me a splint and crutches tomorrow, so I'll be gimpy for the next month or two heh...

It's the weather, alot of people here in NY have been getting sick because of such fluctuating tempatures, maybe something similar is happening in your area.

After a less than exciting Christmas, I have to go back to college tommorow. Sure it gives me something to do, but when I spend so long not doing it, I get lazy and less than interested in going back.

I should really not be given spare time.

Forums...
Why can't a guy be allowed to swear or talk about whatever he wants?
On a writing forum no less? I mean, how can a place dedicated to the furthering of an artform not allow creative expression?
And why do they even have a horror forum, if they give you a warning for even the slightest amount of gore?! These people would think that twilight was too violent to post...
It's not like I'm recreating Saw here! It was barely the level of violence of Friday the 13'th! ...Okay, it was closer to Hellraiser, but still!
Aaaahh!
I get so bloody annoyed...
And the reason?
"I might upset younger people who visit this site!"
Seriously?
Children who can't take it shouldn't read horror in the first place! And I have never seen a kid get upset by swearing unless it was directed at them, or if they were raised by frightfully religious people...

By the way, does anyone know a writing community that allows such things, while not consisting entirely out of porn?

That also bugs me out - censoring ANY form of expression and some topics.
Once again - for me there is no sickest, vilest thing that censorship. And I mean that, even if that means flooding the mainstream and underground market alike with crap.

Now swearing in discussion is a thing of personal culture. But I don't mind swearing if it proves some point.

I used to read some scary stories for my bro, and my friend's daughter. Well, my brother came out to be a pussyeh, my friends daughter loved them Very Happy.
We watch horror stuff together, her mother is too fragile on heart for that kind of movies Very Happy.

Treating kids like kids will only spoil them. Parent's duty is to treat them as a young adults with a duties. Other adults should treat them like equal partners. That's how I treat my younger friends. Of course with some splash of common sense, that is. Treating kid like a kid means to bound their minds in some safety shells that will, sooner or later, clash with life.

I did knew one but it died back in 2006 and besides it was in polish... the majority was porn, most crap (but I read few good porn/erotica ones), but there were short horrors & such.
We still have http://horror.com.pl/ with a mighty forum for movies, books, games, music and stories. Both sent for official competition and for purely amateur purposes. And many, many of them are worth reading, but once again :
only in polish.

I always was jealous for the "nine to five" working hours.

Up here we work from "eight to six". It's good when you have to go for a party later on, it gives you more time for preparation, or in when the man in the sky blesses you with a nice weather, so you can go for a walk while the sun still shines.
But damn, what would I give for an additional hour of sleep :-(.

Screw you, working hours! I need to retrain myself and find some job with more elastic schedule. But on the other hand... that would be also kind of pissalafazooish, waking up at midnight because something came up. I worked that for three months and I started to go nuts.

I liked the graveyard shift the best, no one's really on the streets earlier in the morning so it's quiet and calm.

Working at night? Can be interesting, especially on a gas station when two three skinheads on meth try to make a robbery with a knife and there is nothing in the cash register, nor in safe. Try explaining that to them. And it takes 30 minutes for the security to arrive.
Based on my experience. I had enough of graveyards shifts and gas stations after that event Very Happy.

Grinding my gears now...I made an announcement on facebook about how I got a callback for a lead role in an upcoming production of The Taming of the Shrew, and no one says a damn thing about it. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for him, because there's a chance we might get to do another show together, and that would be awesome, but if it weren't for me, he wouldn't have even auditioned. The show is being put on by MY college's theatre department, I was the one who got the announcement and information for when and where to audition (I was the FIRST to audition before EVERYONE) and it was me who gave him the info in the first place.

It's quite simple - Men recieve more praises than woman.

I was in a band, playing on a guitar - I was praised.
My friend was in a band on guitar and could shred like hell and was also a quite talented songwriter - she was only praised by fellow musicians who knew what's what, but still they gave this suspicious, maybe jealous looks. Even the female musicians.
My male colleague done one task before schedule - boss congratulated him, thanked him, gave him a day off.
My female colleague done simmilar task before schedule - boss said "good work" and gave her nothing.

On the other hand, critique is aimed more at women.

But it's not the typical chauvinism or unequal rights - society still doesn't know how to handle women - so people are too unsure how to praise them, and if they should praise them, and critique their bad behaviours more them because of their "tamer and softer" nature. Society still treats men as a simple beings and wants to equal more "complicated" females to them. So there is no wonder it's get so funked up.

This is currently pissing me off too. I work in an office that is very female-dominated. I'm one of three guys who work there, and none of us do full time. The job I'm currently doing is mostly tech and web support and I took over from a friend of mine (female) who was doing exactly what I'm doing now.

But the level of sexism in the office is insane! Everyone assumes I can do the job better because I'm male. They all feel more comfortable asking me for help than they did asking my friend. Ach.

Another thing I've noticed in big corporations like that is how much more common it is for egos to clash between women. I get along well with everyone there, but I've had to start writing notes on who won't work with who so that I can be sure I don't ask someone to talk to a coworker they don't like. Because if I do, nothing will get done. None of them are willing to admit to it, they will just drop the task completely and leave me to work out why.
Now I'm not trying to be sexist AT ALL. I'm just stating the facts as I've observed them, and basically a lot of women don't work well with each other if heirarchy is involved.

Office politics generally sucks. I have one co-worker who sent a real suck-up email to our boss about how much work they'd been doing but seeing no progress from anyone else (without even asking anyone else) so the boss forwarded it to the department to show us all the kind of person we are working with.

For once Pietja, just once, I would like to see you make a responding post that DOESN'T have something to do with how society, and you, view women. That would be really nice, y'know? Not EVERYTHING directly correlates to that.

I'm really not in a good mood. At all.

I went to my boyfriend's house for three days, and on my second day there, my throat swells up and my nose got so stuffy I could have suffocated myself just by closing my mouth. I woke up this morning and my tonsils are swollen and it hurts to talk or swallow. I can't yawn, because it activates my gag reflex. My boyfriend did his best to take care of me, keeping me warm and snuggling with me at night, but let's face it, who wants to get that sick when they are trying to have a good time?

So I call my doctor, and end up having to switch doctors completely because mine is only in on Monday's and Wednesdays, and was booked through 'till February. The only day they had available was NEXT Wednesday because someone cancelled. For one, I'm not waiting another week. I'm in a lot of fucking pain. I don't want this shit to possibly get worse. I don't even know what's wrong. Second, I have my callback on Tuesday, so I'm not risking going in to THAT like this.
So I get transferred to another doctor who will be in tomorrow. No one knows my damn co-pay, and hasn't since I got new insurance, and no one seems to be able to find out what it is. However, it's the beginning of the year, so a $150 deductible has to be paid for the year. So my doctor's visit tomorrow is going to cost $95. What. The. Hell. And if they test me for strep throat, it's another $15.
Jeezus f'ing CHRIST.
