This is a play-on a late 80's sci-fi movie called "They Live"? or "They are Alive"?. Happens to be a favorite of mine, it looked waay better when I was younger. Watched it last Halloween for fun...wow.

You can't have a James Cameron story without a nuclear explosion in it. Check his track record. Well, "Titanic" and "Avatar" had metaphorical nuclear explosions - the gigantic crash (splash) of the Titanic, and the gigantic crash of the Big Na'Vi Hometree.
