Best Games and Movies of 09'

I know it's a little late, but I thought it could be fun that we could have a little voting here on the Collected Curios forums where we get to know what people here think was the best game and/or the best movie of 2009. I don't want negative opinions on what other people vote for, so keep your negative thoughts for yourself! I'll set up a final summary and "close" the voting Sunday next week. One vote each category, people can change their votes with a new post. I'll start:

Best game of 09': 
Modern Warfare 2
Call of Duty has become such an advanced franchise that I love. The game takes war to a whole new level, the campaign can be offending, but still fantastic and the online gaming drains so much and makes the game to what it is. Weaponary rocks, graphics rocks, gameplay rocks, almost everything rocks.

Best movie of 09':
Avatar
Even though it came in the middle of december, it walked at once straight to be one of my favourite movies. The movie has this ''touch'' and takes animation one step longer. It's perfectly stunning, I loved every second of it and it made me freeze. The only minus is that the plot is kinda a ''Dances With Wolves" spin off. James Cameron waited 14 years to make the movie, and it was well worth it, when you think of the technology.

Best Game of '09 IMO :

Street Fighter IV - released on arcades in June '08, BUT the date of release for Xbox 360 in Europe was February 20, 2009.

Assasins Creed II

Best Movie :

I don't watch "fresh" movies and The Road is still yet to be screened in Polish cinemas, but I've watched "unofficial" (recorded in cinema) bad quality one and nevertheless my anwser is one, no contestants - "The Road" based on Cormac McCarthy's book (wich is a masterpiece) is the best movie of 2009.

Best movie of '10: Avatar.

That about sums it up.

Anyway, I think I'll keep the voting up for maybe two weeks instead. Cause it seems like few are going to vote.

Havn't seen Sherlock Holmes yet. But I will count that as my best movie of 2009 due to it's release date.

Otherwise I'm going with Star Trek.

Then we'll set Star Trek as your vote, it's little sense in voting for a movie you haven't seen yet. Anyone can change their votes with a new post until the voting is over.

Best movie of 09: Star Trek (Avatar is overhyped, saw it 2day and it didn´t really impress me. Look is good but the story is lame)
Best game of 09: New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Best movie of 10: I think I can allready say that will be Alice in Wonderland.
Best game of 10: Not possible to say yet.

There's no bother talking about 10' here, but I actually look really forward to Alice in Wonderland too.

Best Game: Colin Mcrae's Dirt 2
Amazing game, driving, soundtrack, cars, graphics and most fun Ive had on a new game from 09

Best Film: Zombieland
Fething funny as hell, brilliant gags and great fun.

Movie: Angels and Demons. I've only seen two movies from 2009: Angels and Demons and Inglourious Basterds. IG was a good movie, but dragged on in some spots so I'll have to give this one to Angels and Demons.

Game: Brutal Legend. This one was narrowed down to three choices with the other two being Red Faction: Guerrilla and Borderlands. Red Faction and Borderlands are great games, but get a tiny bit repetitive. Brutal Legend is a rare example of a game that manages to stay fresh pretty much the whole way through. The RTS elements were a surprise, but turned out to be perfectly welcome. Its reasonably short length also gave it replayability for higher difficulty settings. Oh, and Ozzy Osbourne does a cameo. Case Closed.

As said in the overhead post: To decide which of Star Trek and Avatar that's the best movie of 09', we clean the votes for these two movies and everyone besides they who have allready voted for Star Trek or Avatar gets one vote each.

I vote Star Trek. The CGI was as good if not better than Avatar on a stylistic level, it didn't take so long getting to action and the story made more sense. And the acting was better. Zach Quinto as Spock? Best casting move of 2009.

If I have a choice between two piece of sh**** movies, then I'll go with Star Trek.

I disagree that Avatar was the best movie of 09. I very heartily disagree, considering District 9 did a better job with effects and script. But, if I have to choose from the list, I'd say Zombieland.

Meh... now the topic is a big mess, seems like most haven't got it. So maybe people can just say what they think was the best movies and/or games of 2009, and share opinions.
