I wouldn't be so sure of that; if there's one thing I've learnt (to my cost), it's that wandering monsters either respawn or tend to be from some endless supply. Kill as many as you want; there'll be more along in a few minutes.

Well, they don't play in a MMORPG here so if they just find the "big mother of all monsters" it should be over.

Some post-slaughtering pest control should help .
