Am I alone in feeling bad for Hilary?

I love this strip. I feel both supportive for Hilary and Kathleen. Wanting to help the bunny from her dilemma but also help the kitty make the bunny's life a living hell!! I am so confused and turned on at the same time!!! Wonder if Pip is feeling the same way!?

Actually, what does Kat really know about what's happening here? Very little; she knows that Hilary lost her job. She can now see Hilary in the charity shop (in itself a weird thing) salavating over a pink MLP lunch-box (snicker). It won't be until Pip tells Kat everything that she'll know the complete scale of her rival's humiliation.

And, yeah, that time will come quickly.

FWIW, I suspect that we're going ot be learning a bit more of the history behind these two. Something tells me that the bullying might have been mutual at times given how violent Hilary's response was.

Well, there is no good occasion for such feelings - Kat still works as a crappy photographer, so they are both on the same level, I guess.

True, but Kat never acted like she was better than everybody else (or, for that mater, gave anyone grief by simply being friends with someone she hated). While I won't hold it against anyone for feeling sorry for Hilary, keep in mind that a few strips ago she refered to potential customers as "unwashed poor people"

...possible, but I doubt it. In what is approaching 800 strips, I've seen little to no evidence that Kat ever treated Hilary with any kind of cruelty. In fact, the only comeuppance I ever seen Hilary recieve is being blackmailed by Art, & that was because she was being a bitch to him.
While I'm not against her becoming a better human...ah bunnybeing, Hilary is, at the moment a bad person who reveled in making Kat's life hell, & I personally think Kat is owed a little gloating time.

One of the CRUELEST things Kat could do would to be completely GRACIOUS. Utterly Polite and Sympathetic. This would have the added advantage of confusing the ever loving daylights out of Pip.

I think that the correct term is "Anthro-bunny" or "Bunny Anthro" Similarly, Kat is an Anthro-cat and Scarlet is an Anthro-Squirrel.

While I could go into "double-standards", I'll choose not to...because we both know that you or I would, in fact, be very grateful.

Okay, I'm not saying that Kat's some perfect little angel (in fact, her "mean-streak" is one of my favorate things about her), I'm just saying that Kat's hatred of Hilary seems, if not justified, at least understandable. Whereas Hilary seems to take way too much pleasure way too often on her side of their little grudge.

There's no particular reason why she should suspect Pip or even associate him with Art getting those photographs. She's any number of on-line 'fans' and any one of them could have leaked those photographs to Art. IMO, In her mind, it's probably more likely to have been a co-worker than a room-mate.

Okay, so what you're saying is, because Art said that it was a friend and Pip is a mutual friend of Art and Kat and knew about her past, that Hilary would literally think that there could be no-one else responsible for her humiliation? No, I think that you're assuming a bit too much here.

Pip is so creepy and ineffectual-seeming that I think Hilary would have a hard time believing that he was responsible. Surely it must be some brilliant, shady PI who is a friend of Art's? I think that her self image would literally make it impossible for her to believe that a work-shy, creepy pervert-penguin could be the author of her downfall.

I would say this is arguable. After all, lots of people have fantasized about hunting down and killing someone they can't stand, often with less justification than Kat has. But that doesn't mean they really would if given the opportunity. It's the same difference between playing GTA and actually careening cars recklessly through the streets while murdering prostitutes along the way. The latter is clearly wrong while the former can be a vital safety valve to ease frustrations

I'd count the sketchbooks as non-canon by default and semi-canon at best. Yes, the sketchbooks do show off Amber's past enhancements that were later referenced in the comics, but by that token, we'd also have count things like Kat and Scarlet driving a DeLorean to the Triassic, Hilary actually being an android that Kat can easily disassemble, Pip remote controlling a giant Scarlet mech, Scarlet having at one point cocoanut-cracker thighs, and so on.
