I believe it is the dreams f a knocked out kitty Kat since it blended from conciousness to unconsciousness.

Not Art. He's already met Hilary, and while he wasn't quite on board with Kat's research into costs of arranging a hit he wasn't exactly drooling over her either.

I think that it is the tentacle beast, telepathically prodding Kat's psyche to see what drops out under pressure. The hate/lust overlap is one obvious pressure point.

A part of me wonders if we might see a real Kat fear like Art and Scarlet making out.

I think one "day" Art awake (in a lab, yeah , a lab of virtuality testing) from his dreams...

After all, we (most of us) have been crediting that weird eldritch abomination with mind-screwage, when in fact Kat & Van might've gotten washed so far back down the tunnel they were just plain out of reach - the whole groggy nightmare being one of a bumped head and bad memories, nothing more.
