It's the single male's dating nightmare and one that haunts our subconscious - that the hot babe we've just met used to (or, more horribly, still is) actually a guy. Hillary obviously has a dangerously genre-savvy understanding of the male mind to zero onto that pschological flaw so unerringly.

I knew Hil' could be low, but I never thought she could sink like that. Even though this started as little girls jealous of each other in grade school, why and how did it continue into adulthood?

JJ...What is Hilary's problem that she would continue to go after Kat for so many years? I know for storytelling purposes she is just a foil for Kat to go up against now and again, but this type of thing hints at her being a tragic character. I'm really curious about what drives her, something like "she lives in an artificial world of false friendships and empty emotions and hates Kat for the sincerity of her life and friends".

(Sorry, I'm a English major. I see characters and I want to write their story)

Hilary sounds to me like the type who grew up in a rich family, was spoiled into oblivion, wants things her way and when they go the other way in the slightest she decides just inflicting the wound is enough, she's gotta' stick something and twist it for added insult/injury. Most likely Vanity has known Kat more than 6 months, so if catguy was to confront her about "Kevin", that ploy on Hilary's side would be completely shot down.

Maybe her and Kat were great friends back in childhood days but something happened between them? I know a friendship like that, and I'm a... acquaintance of the one that is more like Hilary. They were separated by... well, how to put it... suspicious family issues back in high school. I can only add that someting that the girl I know did was and is - I guess besides for Jesus-like pure souls - beyond forgivness. Of course if the story I've heard is true. But, bugger, she's still a fine girl to take out for a party.

I don't think she's spoiled. I'm often jealous for other people that have different vibe and use spectrum of their emotions differently. I'm jealous of trust that other people are able to give to annother being - for example. But I'm not able to do so, so I guess the same case is with Hillary - she's unable to do something because of who she really is, so she acts like she does.

This could be a blessing in disguise. Think about it. If Hillary didn't screw up things for Kat, she would have never met up with Art, Pip, or the quadruplets. My guess is that it's pretty bog standard bully psychology. She needs to torment someone to prove her own existential worth. So long as Kat is miserable, then Hillary, who is pretty much her opposite, must be happy... mustn't she? It is possible that she finds Kat's reactions funny too.

I can't say its a two sided hate. Kat is not going to go out of her way to do something horrible to Hillary. Kat is normally in defense mode because she knows Hillary is with out a shadow of a doubt going to do something evil. Once Hillary is gone she become a quick forgotten memory.

I have to agree with rpx. Hilary has always been a complete c*nt to Kat for no reason. Kat has always been on the defense since childhood. Kat didn't do anything but go to this concert wearing a dress she liked, how was she supposed to know Hilary had it too? She didn't do anything at all. Hilary is just a stupid, insecure whore.
