Just a chip off the ol' block?

I think the best way to karate chop that block is to draw something stupid and inane, something you'd never show anyone else except late at night after a party with a lot of alcohol. It shouldn't be very good nor do you have to complete it. Unless you decide you want to after the hangover wears off, of course.

The point is that we get artist's block because we're trying too hard to come up with something good which blocks the creative juices, so, by deliberately doing something cringe-worthy, we stop trying and hopefully unstop the creative flow.


How about this idea? I give you a real English word, and you scribble out the first thing that pops into your head. Be crass, be crude, be nice, be prude. I don't care. You're not going to show anyone the end results (unless you want to, which I doubt) so get wonky! All you have to do is say you did it so we can try again at a later date. (You're allowed to post your scribbles if you want and can swallow your pride long enough to do so, but it's not a requirement.)

Your real, English word --> breastsummer

Just to show you I will sometimes put my money where my mouth is (ick), I scribbled up the following in about 10-15 minutes, inked it so you could make out the character, did minimal clean-up on my computer, and, in 25-30 minutes could upload it to Photobucket.

But, as for the topic.

As I currently took a break in making my "Foreign Relations" strip, I announced free commission/request time to keep myself occupied and not fall into any art-block. I just don't want to think about what to draw, it's the main reason, and I don't want to get rusty. So, in my opinion, one of the best way to keep yourself occupied and running is to draw for others. Their ideas, their concepts, your time and skills.

You can check out the deal about commisions of mine at http://pietja8t8.deviantart.com/. You can also make a request if you agree with the rules posted in my DA journal and I'll think about it. I'm currently starting 3'rd commisioned pic, so I can't say I'm grumbling about the lack of work.

I just dropped all comissions to a dollar til after Halloween (my prices were too high anyway). Requests are always free.

Requests are general ideas, while Comissions are specific. Like lets takes Nikolai's for an example.

He wanted me to do his character Prototype. That would be a commission. I HAVE to do it. Even if was rated XXX. Money is money.
He also wants me to do a cool full metal alchemist drawing. That is a request because I can do anything with it, or refuse to do it.

Wow. Nikolai is being abused by me. lol. I blamed him for art block, and used him as examples.

Of course I dont do comissions til I'm paid first, because that makes a date from when i need to start and gives me a general finishing date.

Any before Halloween is done before Nov 7th for example. I also keep in heavy contact so it turns out the way you paid for.
