That explains the materials the girls got for their suits. Superalloys that flex without the use of articulation or seams. Armor that can take on any kind of weapon up to high energy beams.

Purely to my eyes, they looked like the wings of a Gou'ald 'Death Glider' fighter from Stargate - SG1 in their folded 'parked' position, but they could just as easily be the front of TIE Interceptor solar panels I guess.

Where do the girls and the denizens get the materials for these advance weapons anyway!? Was the area they live in a abandon military base that was built underground during WWII or something! I bet they even have a manufacturing plant as well under the freaking apartment!!!

I'm sticking to my reckoning that the gals (Scarlet excepted) are actually piloting the suits from nice comfy (and safely indoor) pods similar to what they grew up with back in Quinten.

Of course, if they were to venture further from the house/base/lair/command-center/smoking-rubble-pile, lightspeed communication lag would dull their combat reflexes, but for the Quad squad that built an entropic bomb from a slinky (motivated by nothing but pity for its inability to climb) broadband superlight communications systems should be a throwaway side result of needing to be sure a shared alarm-clock system was fair without having to move their sleeping quarters into a perfect circle around the central timer.

From what I've read about the tale it sounds like Cameron's concept is of the same ilk as I'm thinking.

Hell if you got the basic lines of the story you can also compare Avatar with Pocahontas. *did I spell that right? O-o*
