There's a difference between critique and review.
Zeropunctuation isn't a series of reviews. Same goes for HTP. These are critiques.
It's impossible to get crucial information about the game from either ZP or HTP, wich reviewer has to give. Also, reviewer must find a good things in a game, because of reviewer's role as journalist (or a wannabe one).
Critique is an opinion about feelings you had towards the game.
I blame Yahtzee for calling ZP a review series. His articles on fullyramblomatic are more in the spirit of reviews, but still not quite. HTP is also a critique series.
Also, take a note that both autors are british, and they're fully aware of how they want to be seen and how the world sees them. And if they're comfortable with that, good for them. If they're making someone getting butthurt about it, I think they're also perfectly fine with it.
