If any of my posts don't make sense it's because they are unnanounced Flash Forwards. Later Jolly Jack will reveal that Hillary actually dated someone who had his name legally changed to Wolfy Guy. She is dumping him for one of Kat's boyfriends, who she will dump for another of Kat's boyfriends, and another.

FWIW - The 'jaws theme tune' is basically lampshading that this is not a memory or flashback but a directed hallucination being orchestrated by an outside force for a motive that we don't yet know. I just hope that Kat is smart enough to take those little 'atmosphere' clues as proof that what she's experiencing here isn't automatically reality.

None of it's got anything to do with reality.
At this point, everyone's theories are equally valid.
The horror in the cellar is hopefully a manifestation of JJ's disgust with shows like Ghost Hunters. They should find something really scary. That show just drags on forever.
Considering that only 1% of Kat's life is passing before her eyes, she's only 1% dead.
