Hmm...I was almost lost on this joke, until I remembered that it is similar to the American joke where upon opening the refrigerator it is filled with fungus and edible mushrooms.

The other night Aqua Teen Hunger Force did the one where Shake's mess comes alive, and is really nice.
Now your dredging up an old strip and parodies of it.
Did I miss international clean out your refrigerator day?

Episode 12 of Cowboy Bebop had a living, mutated fungus living in a fridge. Great parody of Alien franchise.
