"More like the way you and Kat are friends."
Forever awkward and dodging the issue, stuck in a flirtationship that progresses at the whim of a hamster deity.
You want that?
Are you sure?
Do you know what you ask for?

For one, I'm reminded of the I Dream of Jeannie TV show which jumped the shark when the main characters got married, thus busting the sexual tension that was part of the show. For another, I find it tiresome how romantic plot tumors are so often wedged into stories that don't need them. There's other peeves I have, but those two are the big ones.
On the other hand, Art and Kat's relationship is more realistic to me, proceeding slowly without the two getting into a clichéd bunglefest of a romantic comedy. In some aspects, it's like the two have already gotten past that initial stage of infatuation and have settled into the more stable long-term love. It's not so in-your-face or obnoxious.
In-universe, we don't know what might be holding them back, beyond their own apparent discomfort at the idea. For example, are there social pressures against interspecies relationships? (Mind you, Pip's a pervert, and Hilary doesn't care if she's sleazy to get what she wants.) Does Art or Kat have some sort of mental hangup against a romantic relationship? Was part of the conditions for Art's inheritance the condition that he never marry or pursue a relationship? The mind boggles.
