The beautiful irony of it all is that James Cameron made a movie called Avatar (MAYBE YOU'VE HEARD OF IT?) in which the aliens are made to look like the good guys.

Why didn't Sigourney Weaver just tell the company "Hey. Those trees you're pulling down? Yeah. They hold the key to a form of immortality that's probably worth a sh*t-ton more money than the rocks you're digging up. I'm just gonna call head office and tell them you've decided to pass on that."
No one ever says anything vaguely sensible in a movie. One line. That's all it would take to solve the entire problem.
