It's definitely meant to be a spin on 'Big Brother':
'Hotel Orwell' -> George Orwell -> '1984' -> "Big Brother is watching you..."

Did they remember to feed the squirrels ? And to leave them enough food ?

In other words, I expect this plotline to finish with the Thinktank coming to the rescue !

God, I don't even have words. There's evil and there's this. The aliens might not be out to conquer the world or something but they really must have a nasty streak a mile wide to do this to someone!

I seem to remember that something similar to this in a Doctor Who storyline finished off with a war with the Daleks. I wonder if the Eldak are still sniffing around?

even if they could break the windows they are up at least 50 stories. we have a show like this in the states it is called big brother.

WHAT THE HELL?!! (last week I saw "The Rocky Horror Show" so when I read the word Hotel for a sec my mind went nuts for this)

This can't be good for the TV the aliens should had taken someone more appropriate for this, someone self absorbed, shallow and greedy............. Hilary would have been perfect.

Oh my... you may be on to something here.

Think about it: We haven't seen Hilary in a while, and she's always the type to look for fame. Who knows, she just might show up at this hotel.

Big Brother is a worldwide format, we have it also in Italy (for a few times in row I wrote "ew" instead of "we": meaningful typo )

As the 50 stories, they are always better than that.

I hope we get to see some jealousy driven antics when the girls start hitting on Art and the guys start hitting on Kat.

I think that this is just their usual way of hosing down Cameronites that they capture. If, after a four weeks in the BB House, they aren't willing to talk, they'll be so nuts that they won't ever do anything ever again! And all along, they've been bringing in advertising revenue! For the aliens, it's a win-win proposition!
