Playing Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions. Epic game, really fun to play. Pity it isn't a sandbox game. But loving just the same, even made me go buy Spiderman Noir!!

So close to getting my Ostrich sledgehammer, still fun game if you like blowing up excessive amounts of buildings, running through people with an indestructible sledgehammer, using giant walkers to blow up everything in sight, and of course accomplish all of this in multiplayer (Minus the walkers and vehicles part)

Hitman

The whole series, mostly because all four games were in the current issue of our polish game magazine along with Rainbow 6 Las Vegas and Ford Off Road Racing.
Well, as for Hitman series, I can't say anything but that I love it. Next to Thief it's the best stealth games series ever created, Splinter Cell is nowhere near. The series got atmosphere, the story, great music and the variety of doing the missions. The worst fear that I have for the, most probably, upcoming Hitman game is going sandbox of semi-sandbox, like the new crappy Splinter Cell : Conviction game. The Hitman games have more of a non-linear sandbox games than most sanbox stuff I've played.
The best game? I'd say Hitman : Blood Money, the fourth one, and Hitman : Silent Assasin, the second one.

As for Rainbow 6 Las Vegas, after playing the true R6, the old, good, tactic one, I wanted to cry of what they've done for this game to sell it to the sheep. Yes, for money.
Can you say : baaah, you sheep that bought it? I uninstalled it after the mission inside the casino 1st level. Piece of crap.

As for Ford Off-Road Racing, well, it's a driving semi-simulation of an offroad licensed Ford cars. Budget game in my opinion, wich is suprising, because it tries to advertise Ford cars. I kept it on my disk because I don't have any racing games, besides piece of shiet that is Burnout Paradise on Xbox 360, and this game, even though a feature game is quite pleasing by not trying to be overly bombastic.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, at least for a few minutes.

No way to manually move the camera. No minimap, radar or other icon letting you know where other enemies are that are off camera. No way to lock on to enemies to ensure that your slow precise aerial attacks actually hit. Quick time events up the ass. Unpredictable changes in gameplay style and punishing you for not being psychic enough to see stuff coming.

Right, yet ANOTHER third person melee combat game suffering from extremely bad gameplay design. Oh sure, the visuals and sound are great. The cinematics are great. I'm sure the story is great. There's probably plenty to do and nice and long. Yet all that, ALL OF THAT is completely irrelevant if the gameplay itself is frustrating and bad.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow plays like GARBAGE. I determined this after a mere 15 or so minutes, so I'm going to assume that the rest of the game is also like this and probably worse.

I think an analogy is needed here. It doesn't matter how much time, energy and care you put into making, say, a delicious cake. You could very well have made the prettiest, fluffiest, most spectacular tasting cake in the world, but if you sprinkle it with shit the entire cake becomes uneatable. I'm sorry, but I'm too much of an old school gamer who is spoiled by the 90s and early 2000s to care about all this cinematic crap.

You know what, though? I'm still holding out hope. I'm confident that someday, someone is going to make another 3rd person melee game that is actually really good. So I guess I'm going through my own personal version of the Sonic Cycle. It's almost to the point where I want to take up game design myself.

Fallout New Vegas

Perfection, I don't care what people say about the bugs. You can fix bugs, you cannot fix shitty gameplay. Fallout NV mixes the complexity of FO1&2 with the exploration of Oblivion and Fallout 3. Exploits with EXP and difficulty has been fixed, Hardcore is fun for those who want to role-play a lot more in a role-playing game, ALL skills are used equally (so speech is needed again!), they brought back the sex, ammo types are cool, mods are varied.

They pretty much made fallout 2 in 3D and jaked the awesome by a power of amazing.

Fable III

Good game although way too easy and too short, but that wasn't a suprise. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it, beat it twice with all side missions(about 90 of them).
But if there is a plan of Fable IV, then I hope it will be "revolutionary" indeed. Fable III isn't. It's good, but nothing to be drooling about.

My opinion - Peter Molyneux should resign as a lead designer and Microsoft should give Lionhead some more time to release a masterpiece. I know that they're capable of it, but not with lying dickward commanding them that feels like he's playing real life Populous, wich was Bullfrog, first Molyneux game studio and without whip called Microsoft above them.

and

New Vegas
I borrowed it from a friend, I'm not stupid enough to buy Bethesda/Obsidian game before some serious patches, especially not for PC. Never again.
I agree, it's better than F3, Chris Avellone's team tried what it could to bring Fallout series back to it's glory, but from what I saw for now it's a sisyphean task, at least with this engine. I agree, the atmosphere is more cohesive than in F3, more gripping, but I couldn't enjoy it much as the game kicked me back to Windows in every 40-60 minutes after leaving/entering building. The guy I borrowed it from says he got the same, so it's not about my PC. And I'm too old for tolerating that stuff.
I gave it back. I'll return to it, I'm pretty sure about it, but maybe after GOTY edition with some major patches will be released. And some mods from community.
As for now, I didn't found no joy in that game whatsoever. Mostly because of crahses, but also because of the engine.

Quantum Theory

I rented this along with Lords of Shadow. Surprisingly enough I'm actually rather enjoying it. This doesn't make much sense to me because I think it was earlier in this same thread I mentioned trying Gears of War finally and not liking it at all. These games play almost exactly the same! Did it just take the initial departure from the comfort zone before I said "Yeah, let's give this a decent try and see if I can overcome my original issues. I'm thinking I may need to go back and rent Gears of War again and see how it stands up now.

You know, maybe it's the combination of better looking levels, eventually partnering up with a chick with a sword that you can throw at enemies (the chick herself, not just the sword), said partner being better at looking after herself than Barack Obama at a Klan meeting, eliminating altogether those shitty grenades, something. Sure, it pulls a lot of that super hard enemy spamming, bullshitty instant deaths and trial and error repetition but despite it all I'm still finding it fun.

Quantum Theory has been getting some really REALLY bad reviews here in the West (probably did a lot better in Japan) which suits me just fine because I won't have to wait too long before it comes down to budget price.

Edit P.S. By the way, since I was stuck with it for five days anyway I tried Lords of Shadow for a couple more hours and my opinion of it has completely stayed exactly the same. Cinematic but total balls to play.

Fallout: New Vegas

Ooooh dear. First off all I'd like to say, "Thanks, Bethesda, for listening to my complaints and actually including a way to make the game feel more like nuclear wasteland survival with hardcore mode and including cool new stuff like breaking down ammo you don't need to make more ammo you do need and other assorted new crafting."

At the same time however, I also want to say, "What the hell is wrong with you Bethesda? Look at the success of Fallout 3. You knew perfectly well that New Vegas is going to be a hit. There's no excuse at all for not taking the time to fix all these bugs prior to release. This is almost as buggy as Mercenaries 2, and look what that did to Pandemic. Don't give me shit about patching it later, either. There are still some rural gamers out there who don't have the ability to connect their internet to their consoles."

CoD: Black Ops.

...I slightly remember days when games were actually funny. Making remake of "House of the dead" arcade series is not a bad idea, but don't label it as FPS. Duck hunt is more FPS than this abomination. (Talking about campaing, not mp).

Vietnam: Black Ops.
From 10 years ago I remember this game as pretty hardcore. Turned out it was just bad.

I've been crazy broke the past month and a half and have had to fall back on my older games for entertainment. Still awesome after all these years. I'm also downloading some mods for it to change up the flavor a little. Good stuff and with the Freelancer Mod Manager it's crazy easy to turn the changes on and off.

Well i cycle through every console each day so...

SNES: F-zero, Super Metroid and Starfox

I grew up with a genesis so most of the SNES games flew past me except DKC 1-3 and All the Mario games. I decided to go back and play some of the greats I missed. And there were a lot. Bumping my SNES collection from 13 to 92. F-Zero is a challenging one because I try to beat my brother's times (He had F-zero since release, we lived apart). Starfox on SNES is the only one I can beat. Never got past the asteroids in SF64. Sad.

I beat Super Metroid in a hour and forty minutes 100%. (I am a speedrunner)

Genesis: Sonic Megamix

Not really a sega game, it is a homemade sonic game that features spectacular levels and high speed hijinx. I recommend it, if you can get a Sega CD emulator working.

N64: Jet Force Jemini and Banjo-Tooie

Jet Force Jemini been overlooked by many, and it is honestly one of my favorites. I think it was an N64 launch title.
Banjo-Tooie. Come on, it's Banjo Tooie!

Wii: Legend of Zelda: Ages and Seasons

My wii is hacked, I play Gameboy on it.

360: Scott Pilgrim

I love this game, so retro and awesome, the music is amazing with a blend of rock and 8-bit. If you love River City Ransom, get Scott Pilgrim.

PS3: 3d Dot heroes and Uncharted 1

Zelda Dungoen Trolling in 8-bit glory in 3d. Amazing.

I beat Uncharted 2 first, but i decided that (for story sake) I needed to play the first one. I am only one chapter 3 so not much to say.

PC: Darksiders and Team Fortress 2

I love Darksiders, though everyone says it rips on Zelda and God of War and every hack and slash. I disagree, all Hack and Slashes can be compared to God of War. Darksiders to me pays homage to Zelda, not rip it of. Otherwise it would be horrible like Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword (I hate gimmick games. ZOMG Swing your wiimote and it does the same ingame! Should NOT be a selling point.).

Team Fortress 2. I loved this game, until Trading began, now its Hat Simulator 2, where you trade and wear hats. Nothing kills a server til half your team stops to trade hats with each other. Then they get mad that the other team won because they were busy.

They need to allow

1. An option to turn off getting trade offers, so you aren't spammed with them when your wearing Bill's Hat. I seen people give away awesome items so they weren't spammed anymore.

2. Allow the server to turn off trading, that way if you want to trade, you have to leave, so other people can get in the server and play instead of you hogging a slot.

Xenogears
I... finally... passed it.

Goddammit, this is more a novel than a game! Great, sort-of confusing story, but damn, not much of a game. Despite that fact, the battle system is pleasurable, same for controls.

But I won't replay it. Or re-read it...

Final Fantasy 9
Just started playing, and passed disc 1. Pretty quick, if I may say so.
I've played FF6, 7(got bored and never beaten it) and 10(same as for FF7) but I can say, even after the 1st disk, that FFIX is the most charming game of those I've played. It really feels like fantasy - many races, colorful, fable-like creatures and enviroments, music, warm humour and characters... the best so far.

Oddworld : Abe's Odyssey
Anyone remember that game? Some remake on Xbox LIVE would be nice or better yet - a new game. If Limbo is selling, then annother addition to the world of Oddworld would sell too.

Champions Return to Arms

Probably one of the best PS2 games I have ever played, its got more blades, daggers, polearms, swords, and bows you could ever hope to imagine. Its got a fairly long campaign with a maximum of 80 levels for your character to level up to which a host of challenges afterward plus more. Also the game is 4 player coop.
Finished helping my friend finish the second to hardest difficulty.

I am currently playing lots of...

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
Super fun throwback to the beat'm ups of the Arcade era (Final Fight, TMNT, Simpsons) all rendered in sexy high-def 8-bit. Perfect for single player or with up to 3 friends. Only wish is it had online co-op.

Super Street Fighter 4

I love the Street Fighter style fighting games, and SSFIV is one of the best.

On a related note, I can't wait for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, especially with the two new fighters that were announced today. Zero from Mega Man X and She-Hulk!

And I'm eagerly awaiting Disgaea 4... but that is next year. Smile

Ps3: Demon's Souls, and Splatterhouse

An rpg that plays like Izuna: The Legend of the Unemployed Ninja, minus the lesbians and old perverted men. You troll dungeouns collecting loot, and you see "phantoms" of other players flash every minute. You can then join these people in a party and they become real. The game feel so simple, yet so complicated, its like an rpg that Square used to make, but can't anymore.

Splatterhouse is just bloddy awesome. Ripping people to shreds and whatnot, and having Jim Cummings using his Dr. Robotnik voice from Sonic SATam, epic.

PC: Amnesia: Dark Descent.

Possibly THE most scariest fucking game of all time. Though people say Pnumbra (made by the same people) is scarier.

Amnesia wasn't scary at all, at least for me. I haven't jumped even once and the atmosphere wasn't as heavy as most folks use to tell.
I agree that Penumbra had more scares than Amnesia though, maybe because I could relate more to it - modern times, more possible situation... although the second part Overture ruined the initial concept with sci-fi stuff.

I recently played Alpha Protocol. Finally, thanks to patch that was released. It took some time, dammit, but it was expected - it's Obsidian Ent after all.
A big letdown overall, with no spy-like atmosphere whatsoever. Add to that an impossible ammount of bugs(again, thanks to the Obsidian devs wich obviously don't know what beta tester means) and you have Alpha Protocol in a pill.
It's a really bad, bad game.

Also, again, Fallout 2. It's the sixth time this year since I play through that masterpiece, drinking it's atmosphere and overall brilliance and I play it since I was 12. And six playthroughs a year is an average of mine.

Harvest Moon; Snes

Even though I had a Snes growing up, I never got a chance to try this one out at the time. Through the magic of emulation I'm giving it a try now. Really enjoying it a lot, far more so than any Facebook farming game out there at least.

Viking: Battle for Asgard

Hold on to your minds because I'm about to blow them. This is one of the very few games I genuinely like despite having quick time events. The QTEs are still the absolute worst thing about it, as usual, but the rest of the game is so dang good that I'm actually able to forgive it. I'm getting close to earning every achievement.

Blood Omen 2

Sure there are plenty of audio bugs and the story has as much to do with the other games in the Legacy of Kain series as religion has to reason, but the environments are really well done, the voice acting is superb as in all Legacy of Kain games, and the combat, while a little stiff, is still strategic and fun.

If 2010 is any indication of the state of the games industry, it looks like I'll be playing older games for quite a while.
