1 I request and artistic advice. on Mon Jul 07, 2014 1:41 am

One question do anyone around here has any advice about coloring backgrounds? Because right now I'm working in a artwork and in this case I can't use my usual overlay of color. I'm in the awkward predicament of making a….how do I say it? An anime background.
Like this ones for example.

That's the kind of background that I'm aspiring to.
But I've never done one like that nor tried to do anything like that in the past. I already made the line art but now I'm stuck at the coloring.
Anyone knows a tutorial, or advice or something?

Please.

there was this one guy way back when who used to do a lot of oil painting landscape scenery on VHS. i am certain his videos are up on YouTube somewhere. forgot his name. he had a beard. but the basics on color can probably be carried over to your anime drawings

Are you taling about Bob Ross?

Because in his paints he doesn't use much line art like in normal backgrounds. He was alway improvising and let it all to feelings. don't get me wrong he was awesome but not very methodic. Also it's a little difficult to adapt real life techniques with digital techniques. Remember how he said, now I'm gonna use a fan brush , what photoshop brush do I use? Since real life brushes adapt according on how you hold them and the canvas you use them. Or a acrylic paint what swatch in photoshop would I use then? I don't think that is gonna serve me but I'll give it a try. Thanks anyway.

Coloring is hard!
Well technically speaking this is more painting that coloring. But nevertheless.

Hi I would like to apologize because I know that I've been upsetting you with my questions. The thing is that last month was a very frustrating month. You see…em I dunno if you know the Daft punk video Cresendolls.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wF6A3KS_Mpg

And well I assume that you did know or seen the photo of the beatles abbey road.

Well do you see what I was trying to do?

And I got stuck in the background part. You see since  japanese anime backgrounds are usually paints instead of drawings like the images that appear in the links that I posted earlier.
And I am not very good at that, I tried and tried specially over the last month with no good results and I said. Let's ask everyone for help. And well as you can see I need more practice.

Anyway I decided to postpone this artwork and ended it later because I have other things to do. And sorry for disturbing you guys. Specially you Phil.
