Just to throw a different angle out there.

I kind of agree there. As demented as Hilary is, Sequential Art is still a "family friendly" or "clean" comic, not some super serious hard hitting drama. He probably is just a lightweight.

True. However, we cannot disregard the fact that she is cheating on him which still makes her a vindictive bitch bunny slut (the very qualities I like about her).

A longtime lurker here, but this strip did compel me to post, and unfortunately not for the best reasons. As others have been, this strip completely baffles me.

Image matters to Hilary, so if she is genuinely contemptuous of Pip why is she still willing to haemorrhage street cred by publicly associating with a portly pygmy geek? Is a bit of needling Kat really worth an elaborate and sustained "horribly, horribly genuine" act? Would Hilary even have the werewithal for it?

Why is Pip even there in the first place?

I'm not disappointed because I don't necessarily require the "character development" of Hilary turning good, but I am frustrated because what we are seeing in this strip is neither a change of heart nor is it a confirmation of type - it's just bizarre and contradictory. Maybe an explanation will emerge in the next couple of strips, but as it stands I'm afraid that this looks like a clumsy and hamfisted twist.

not_cenaris wrote:Do you realize that "it wasn't a development of Hilary's character, it was just an act" set as a plot point? This is why some people are a little upset - we had a character that no one cared about, getting set for an actual evolution from her one-dimensional bully "personality" into something a bit more complicated. You know, like showing feelings of an almost human nature.

#793 "This will not do".

Bam! She's just evil. No development happened. Just an act, keep moving.

For a comic that grew quite stale in character development department it seems like a huge waste.

Also, when I first read this strip I just felt really empty. Not because I was sad about Pip (I wasn't), but because all that potential and _emotional engagement_ that I was having for first time in my experience of reading SA, went down the hole for the sake of very weak and very lazy plot twist.

Before anyone starts - I am not hating on JJ here. I appreciate every moment of enjoyement that I had for free with this web-comic over the years and I am grateful to Mr.Jackson for that.

But this whole situation just feels wrong.

I cannot +1 this post hard enough.

The online comic strips I follow can be counted on two hands and Sequential Art is in the top three. I'm very grateful to JollyJack for the hard work he puts into his strip. He has entertained me and I am more than grateful. Though I confess a sample of his art is not to my personal liking, much of it would be proudly displayed on my office wall.

With that in mind, it's his strip to write. I'm along for the ride and though the strip now appears to go in a direction I had not hoped for, I'm in this for the long haul. I am convinced I'm going to see great art and great storytelling no matter what direction this goes.

Keep up the great work, JJ, but if I may be allowed one fanboyish statement, if Hilary so much as makes Scarlet's eyes even moist you will be billed for getting my teeth marks out of my keyboard. ;-)

It just occurred to me that this arc has been going on since late April, it really doesn't seem like its been that long. Time flies when you're having fun!

Fixed that for you.

Well, for me anyway.

I dunno...

I kind of want to see how the quads would handle a being so directly their opposite that any physical contact would result in an antimatter explosion.

In-universe and ignoring any canonicity issues with the picture itself, it could just simply be that porn star Gabriel Goodtime was played by more than one bunny girl. It sounds like something a porn studio would do to keep the money rolling in. After all, nobody really cares if Gabriel Goodtime as played by Hilary looks too much like Gabriel Goodtime as played by ginger bunny. The audience is too busy focusing on other things.

FWIW, I think that JJ was making the point that 'Gabrielle Goodtime' was a stage-name and, in some ways, a character that Hillary was performing. She was as much a mask as any other character played by any performer. The things that Gabrielle did, liked and said has little or nothing to do with the bunnylady Hillary Locke's likes, dislikes and opinions.

Funny, I think I recognize that wolf somewhere from the sketch section. So she's cheating with characters not even from the comic. Way to think out side the box!
