It could be a coincidence, really. I mean, 'career criminal' isn't exactly a lifestyle that offers hope of a risk-free existance. He could have fallen foul of a 'business partner' or the police might have decided not to use the "drop it or we shoot" routine for once. From Art's reaction, I suspect that he is leaning towards that explanation anyway.

In the end, though, it doesn't matter if it was a coincidence. The point is that Pip doesn't think that it's a coincidence... and he'll be reacting appropriately to that belief. affraid

CRIMINAL MASTERMIND ASSASSINATED BY LOCAL MOB

BRISBANE (AP) - Local police suspect that Bill "Feathers" McGee of Ross Ice Shelf was murdered on orders by local mob chef "Pockets" McLaren. The elder penguin was found in a garbage bin by the Opera House with what appeared to be a billiard ball stuffed down his mouth, causing him to suffocate. This is one of the signatory methods that the kangaroo mafia is known for. It was rumored that there was a dispute between the avian clans and the marsupial mob over turf, but nothing firm has yet to surface. No suspects have been arrested, but the investigation is ongoing. Some say that the penguin all of a sudden "snapped" the day before and went to confront the mob.

McGee was known to have family, but their whereabouts are unknown.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who caught the reference.

"'Feathers' McGraw was a notorious theif and confidence artist working out of a zoo in Leicestershire, England. His most notorious job (and his last known one) was an attempt to steal the World's Largest Cubic Zircona from Wigan County Museum with the unwitting assistance of local crackpot and inventor Wallice Grimbling.

"Prior to his escape from prison, McGraw was serving a twelve-year sentence for home invasion, kidnap and assault with a deadly weapon as well as multiple counts of burglary and immitating a chicken without a street performance license.

I hope we get to have a look at ol' Uncle Feathers... For some reason I keep seeing some grizzled rockhopper penguin with a sack of swag jumping out of an exploding building, wearing a smirk after giving a quip to his nemesis: Inspector Tiger of the Yard
