Um... Kat? I think that's what's called "giving her the pleasure".
Just a little anthro body-language watch: Look at Kat's tail and hair. It's all spiky in a way that cats use to show agitation, anger and fear. If anyone has any doubt about just how upset this situation has made Kat, that should settle them.
Now, is it me or has Hilary discovered a fascinating new sport: How agitated can I make Kat Vance by doing nothing other than being a loving, tactile girlfriend?

Just a thought: Hilary is down on her luck. Could she, in her socially inept and emotionally stunted way, actually be trying to be nice so she can stay at the house until she's got herself a real job so she can get a decent apartment?

I have a feeling Hilary is enjoying this. And, awwww... she looks cute when she doesn't have that usual sneer on her face.

I play minecraft and all I can think of right now is Hillary saying "Thatssssss a very niccccce placcce you have here… it'd be a ssssshame if sssssomething were to happen to it..." Kinda fits the situation too

Poor Kat.
She can´t win at the moment.
All she can do is wait untill the monster reveals itself to Pip (she will sooner or later), but for now every reaction is making her look bad.

Kat already lost.
There are several possible scenarios.
One: Hilary did not plan anything. But Kat's reaction to her presence is a nice boost. Now that she knows how much Kat suffers, she will play her game. A game where Kat is in the worst possible possition.
Or two: Hilary planned this. She knew Kat would be angered and annoyed. Showing this reaction Kat just did what Hilary wanted her to do.
Either way, Kat lost. Had she done nothing, she would be in a strong position. Now it is hard to imagine a way this will not end in an emotional disaster. Just try to imagine: Hilary being genuinely nice for the rest of the strips. Kat would just explode.

So will this end with Kat thinking Hilary is up to some dastardly deed while everyone thinks she's changed?
Though it would suck if Hilary was up to something and Kat made her true intentions revealed, which would most likely break up Pip and Hilary, causing a rip between Kat and Pip.

Few little facts (not arc related) about Kat from this strip:
1. She's cute when angry
2. Got a very fluffy tail.
3. Weirdly enough, only her hair and tail fur are reacting to her mood.
4. Can fit her fist in her mouth easily.

Hmmm, I had missed #5, I had that on my computer a long time ago, lost it. Was sad, nice to have it back again.

This is really driving Kathleen crazy! I am still not sure about this 180 change of personality in Hilary. Confusing as hell.
