Did I get hacked?

There's a reply left on the Eldak thread which I believe is "They look like shit" and apparently left by myself. I don't remember posting that message but I noticed I was listed as still being logged in when I was logged out.

Anyone have any ideas about these weird things?

I saw Appleclock saying that... Not you. But just now I saw you as the poster...

Wait - are you saying the board allows you to change your displayed username to anything you'd like, including other member's already used names?

That's mondo messed up if it's that way - or did someone get creative with them oodles of unicode characters that almost look like the regular alphabet?

Like I said, it's a post I don't recall ever making, just one single post and hasn't happened since. I don't know what happened. Maybe a glitch? Maybe someone pulling a Mystique on me. I have no idea. All I know is after logging out, that image in my OP post always happens.

UPDATE: I just looked at that post "I" made and just saw the poster is called "Not_Cenaris". Now that's what I called dedication, huh? The fact they claim they're not me while including my username in their's at the same time. They've even gone to the trouble of using the same birthdate as mine. I guess I'd better be careful about my security.

Xenathos is right. Appleclock appears to have changed his name at some point because I remember for a fact he was the one who had originally said that.

Also, it's very poor form if the forum allows you to impersonate others... will have to test it too see.

*UPDATE*

Tried changing my name under profile options; it dosen't let me, so I'm guessing Apple (or someone who got hold of his account) is hacking the forum somehow. Also verified it was Appleclock's user using Google Caching. See attached image for before and after.

Yea.. its unicode. He was using a cyrillic character-set most likely.



Jack, if you can I would suggest limiting the user names to alphanumeric characters only, if possible.

Wow. Then we've found our culprit. Let's hope they don't do it again.
