He found the prototypes!

Ohh boy, looks like we're gonna have a flying flightless bird! (Forgot what Pip is, looks like a mix of California Quail and Penguin.)

"Are those what I think they are?"

If you're thinking "Those are high-performance starfighters" the answer is probably "yes". Wink

Just as a P.S., the Denizens have a hanger full of spacecraft down there, Gary has possibly got his ticket home. All he has to do is convince our heroes to help him...

That explains the materials the girls got for their suits. Superalloys that flex without the use of articulation or seams. Armor that can take on any kind of weapon up to high energy beams.

Very nice, I'll take two and the plans please... Very Happy

I can't believe how many people guessed this just from the wing-tips Very Happy

I have an urge to play the old TIE Fighter game again (from back when LucasArts was synonymous with quality titles)

Purely to my eyes, they looked like the wings of a Gou'ald 'Death Glider' fighter from Stargate - SG1 in their folded 'parked' position, but they could just as easily be the front of TIE Interceptor solar panels I guess.

Ya gotta defer to The Word of God in these matters...

Where do the girls and the denizens get the materials for these advance weapons anyway!? Was the area they live in a abandon military base that was built underground during WWII or something! I bet they even have a manufacturing plant as well under the freaking apartment!!! Shocked

Do I get the feeling nanotech will be involved?

mmm...nanotech.......

@vevans0009 There's all the fancy stuff left over from the nuclear hot water heater and the giant space lazer thing, remember?

No. There is no nanotech. It's a crap plot point that's been over-used throughout the science-fiction genre.
You will see NO lazy-arse nanotech in my stories.

No actual statement that "this" is actually correct of course...

I'm sticking to my reckoning that the gals (Scarlet excepted) are actually piloting the suits from nice comfy (and safely indoor) pods similar to what they grew up with back in Quinten.

Of course, if they were to venture further from the house/base/lair/command-center/smoking-rubble-pile, lightspeed communication lag would dull their combat reflexes, but for the Quad squad that built an entropic bomb from a slinky (motivated by nothing but pity for its inability to climb) broadband superlight communications systems should be a throwaway side result of needing to be sure a shared alarm-clock system was fair without having to move their sleeping quarters into a perfect circle around the central timer.

I've not seen either Avatar movie (ok, the first 10 minutes of Shamawotsit airbender atrocity, but...)

From what I've read about the tale it sounds like Cameron's concept is of the same ilk as I'm thinking.

Hell if you got the basic lines of the story you can also compare Avatar with Pocahontas. *did I spell that right? O-o*

Though somewhat lacking in full-sensory bio-drone remotes, even if that raccoon was damn suspicious.
