1 Tablets and Other Tools of the Trade on Fri Jun 10, 2011 1:54 pm

I'm thinking of buying a tablet so that I can comfortably do more digital artwork. This is a huge purchase and I'm BARELY above the poverty line (in other words, I'm eternally broke). I would MUCH MUCH rather get some help in deciding what I should go with here. I decided this would be a perfect place to pose this question. What do you suggest everyone? What brands, etc, should I be looking at, keeping in mind cost. I'm big on ebay too so I will more than likely buy it there. But I have no idea what to look for being that I have NO experience in this area. PLEASE HELP confused

Cheapest Wacom's are 30-40$ and they are small, but people think size matters, to me it does not.

Go with Wacom every time. On a budget? get a Bamboo Fun. While I've always gone with Intuos models, I guess the Bamboo does the job just fine.

Thanks. Another person suggested a Bamboo and I found one that was within my price range.

Don't invest in equipment unless you think it's actually going to help you. If you can get by with just a pen and paper; do so!
Otherwise: go Wacom!
Very Happy

I agree. I tend to stick with pen/pencil & paper. But when I do go digital, I use a Bamboo Tablet (which, unfortunately has a broken pen. But it gets me by)

I use a Intuos4, but I would suggest a Bamboo. I got an Intuos4 because of the many programmable buttons (mine has 10), and I do 3d modeling with Zbrush (the buttons help), and art. Plus my school paid for half.

Wacom IS the way to go, best support, best products, and always has something for your needs.
