hello.

As part of a personal exercise regimen to brush up on my Photoshop skills, I have applied colors to one of my favorite Sequential Art drawings, the lovely Kat of Lorecraft, by Art, by JollyJack.

so here she is:

also, my DeviantArt page can be found here:

Thanks for looking, hope you enjoy it Smile

I have to ask; do you have a tutorial for making that fur look? I could really use that...

thanks for the nice comments, glad you like it! Smile

Kairu88 wrote:I have to ask; do you have a tutorial for making that fur look? I could really use that...

the way i did fur on this piece was just a slight variation on how i do hair. basically, i lay out the highlights and shadows like normal, then use the smudge tool with a small brush size (1-2 px) and 100% strength to lay out the flow of the hairs, then touch it up with a few random strands using a small brush (also 1-2 px)

hope this helps, I'm more of the trial-and-error type than a tutor Smile

i did a quick search and this is the closest thing i could find to what I'm saying. it probably explains things a lot better than i can.

Great! I'll give it a shot. Either that, or I find some way to convince to you color my works for me :P

EDIT: I can't make it look like yours :\

Shocked Wow...this is amazing.

Only one Minor error. U colored her tail between her hip and her arm blue. see it? that itty bitty little piece of her tail.

Other than that it is absolutely perfect. Smile

it looks like your on the right track, but i see a lot of zig-zag strokes, try to keep the strokes more fluid and only work in the direction the hair/fur is growing. try not to get in a big hurry with it.

just keep practicing, you'll get it before too long.

also, are you coloring with a mouse? because that can make things much harder.

I use:
Photoshop CS5 with a Wacom Bamboo Fun.

someday I'll have a Cintiq but I'm too poor right now Sad

Actually, I'm using an Intuos 3... And Photoshop CS3.

Patience is my weak point. Razz If I actually took time, I'm sure. But I can't!

I guess I'll just keep plugging away until I get the hang of it. I'll keep you posted!

Ok, i added the missing color to the tail, made her shadowed boot look a little less like the rock, and tweaked a few highlights that were bugging me.
