Ahh! Parappa!

"chop, kick, block!"

Great game.

Recently I've downloaded PSX emulator and few games for my laptop, and among my favourites :

Chrono Cross - I'm playing it for the third time, one of the best RPG's I've ever played and definiately best jRPG that I had the pleasure to play.

Metal Gear Solid - plot. I can only say four words for one that has not experienced the awsomness of the MGS plot - "I pitty da foo!"

Bushido Blade - battle system provides a lot of suspense. One hit and you or either your rival dies. A great atmosphere of samurai spirit. No health bars. That is why Kengo : Zero, wich claims to be succesor of the title, failed - it had health bars.

Let me see, some of the favorites I can think of:

NES: Mega Man 2, Bionic Commando, Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest and Shadowgate

SNES: Super Mario World, Chrono Trigger, Castlevania 4, Actraiser, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Secret of Mana

Gameboy: Metroid 2, Kirby's Dream Land and Pokemon

N64(Yes, I was a Nintendo fan back in the day): Super Mario 64, Starfox 64, Extreme G and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil

Playstation: Final Fantasy 7 and Brave Fencer Musashi

PC: Pilgrim Quest (ooh, an obscure one), Civilization (oh man, the hours I lost to this!) Doom and Everquest (not sure if this counts as old school)

Favorite old school game would probably have to be either Donkey Kong Country for the SNES or Clay Fighter 2.

I remember when the ultimate games were the ones you COULDN'T play at home. Yeah, the coin-ops in the arcade. I particularly liked the ones from Williams and Bally/Midway.

Personal fave of all time? NARC. Great graphics, music and sound effects at the time, and for a good cause, too! "Winners Don't Use Drugs!"

Smash TV and Rampage were also pretty good.

Go go gadget Old-School-Gaming!

Commander Keen was great, and I lost days of my life playing Castle of the Winds. Then along came Quake which became a time trials based competition with a few friends to see who could beat levels fastest on Nightmare. Happy, care-free days...

Oh wow... feeling quite nostalgic now. Lessee if I can name off the ones I really liked...

ANY of the Mario Bros. games
Final Fantasy
just about any of the Zelda games
Mortal Kombat (won out against street fighter for me, haha)
Joe&Mac on the SNES(my brother and I had endless amounts of fun with that one)
The TICK!!!
Asterix (huge fan of the game, the comics and the cartoons)
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is a classic, imho
Tiny Toons
Qix (endlessly hard, but still fun)
The Power Rangers game for SNES (don't judge XD)
Star Fox
Duck Hunt
And I won't go into N64 games for fear of taking up too much more space XD

But as you can tell, I was very much a Nintendo girl. (and still am for that matter XD) though now I go for XBOX and Playstation too, lol... never really liked Sega that much... *dodges thrown objects*
