Okay, first off, the pictures are too big. You should be able to resize them using whatever program you scanned them with. Failing that, bung it up on Photobucket, and it has an edit/resize option on there.

Second, the anatomy is pretty much spot on, so nice one. The drawings themselves look a little scraggly around the edges, but that should clear up when you resize it. Try grabbing a download of The Gimp, which is basically a free Photoshop substitute, or Paint.net. Get yourself some inking over the pencil sketchings and you'll be onto a good thing.

Third, the hair. You've got the essentials down, it flows pretty well. There's a few bits like where a lock comes over the shoulder from hair in the background/behind her head, which shouldn't work. It would do that from hair on the front of the head. Also, pencil doesn't work too good for the stranding effect you're going for, as you can see where you've done a short section of the strands, then joined another section on. Try to do the whole hairstrand in one sweep of the pencil. This is also where stuff like Gimp and a pen tablet come into their own.

So overall, good drawings with a few minor niggles that are easily sorted. Keep it up.

I have to agree with Smegle, that your pictures are too big. If you're gonna post 'em like that, opening one page from your thread will take a while, at least for those with slow connection speed.

I'd reccomend either posting small pictures - max 800px high and wide or small pictures with hyperlinks to high-res ones.

If you don't know how to do it, here's what I do :

At first I resize my original pictures with IrfanView (a simple & small program that I used since late 90's). The big one is max 1600px wide or high, the smaller one is 450px to 800px wide or high. I upload them both on Imageshack and copy their url's here.

Then I open my thread and type this :

["url="(in here I post a http of a big sized picture)]["img"](and here you post a http of a small picture, so that it would appear in your topic)["/img"]["/url"].

Of course you type this simple html code without brackets (").

Hope it helps somehow.


I'm not good at critique, unless it's mixing someone with mud and I guess, after seeing your workd you do not deserve it.
Play with shade, colors, clean and strenghten your lines (or downsize the picture, so most of the white holes will be filled automaticly). And experiment. For now all you showed us is a potential. That is a lot, but at the same - not that much.

Yeah, sorry about the size. I didn't think that they would come out that big, so I'll keep that in mind for the rest of my posting. Thanks for the complement on the anatomy. :3 And I'll keep in mind the stuff about the hair. I've always had trouble colouring it in. And had to say this: -laughs- Niggle.
