Heh. I'm one of those fellas who find the Oblivion engine wonky and a nuisance.

But beyond Oblivion, I was depressed after completing the Sc2: Wings of Liberty campaign.
Imagine a bad Hollywood movie. That was the plot in a nutshell. Ffffffffffffffff-

Yeah I am not going to buy SC2 until the Battle Chest comes out. Seriously not going to pay 60$ for 1/3rd of a game.

I still do not understand why people pull the "it's 1/3 of a game" card.
It's an achievement to complete it in under 8 hours.
Might just be me, but I've played a lot of games lasting less than that!

Sc2 has its share of problems, but it's certainly 1/1 game, not 1/3.
...still kinda expensive to buy online.
Retail's pretty cheap most places though.

Completing a strategy game in less than 10 hours is some kind of mistake.
But then again, Starcraft, Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2 feel more like action games for me than strategy games, even in terms of real-time ones. Just like Diablo 1&2 aren't cRPG games.
They maintain the facade, but nothing else. Baldur's Gate 2 is far more like a strategy game than Blizzard products.
I liked Starcraft as a teenager, but nowdays I can't play it. Not because of graphics, sound or music (wich has great OST, game-wise), but because it bores me now. I liked the story to wich game mechanics worked fine, but playing it today, for me at least, it's tedious.
In terms of space strategy or RTS games I still love playing Homeworld 1&2 and Master of Orion II. Old games, but with outstanding replay value, that are very challenging to this day.

What, was Red Alert that much longer? I can't recall them being jRPGs.

Also, 8 hours is an achievement. ...which suggests to me that most players don't complete it within 8 hours, hmm?

For me the whole idea of speed-running an RTS game is weird. Action, FPS games, ok., but RTS? How it's a strategy then?

I don't remember Red Alert, last time I've played it when I was ten and I didn't finished it.
I also don't recall Red Alert being a japaneseRPG...

Yeah, I'll probably just wait for the Battle Chest for Starcraft 2 as well. A good number of reasons for this.

1. Save money.
2. My PC would run like dogshit with this game and I've neither the money or technical knowhow to keep it in top form.
3. It'll be more patched up.
4. I don't care about multiplayer so I may as well wait for all the single player campaigns to be available.

What I'm asking is: Did it take ~50 hours to complete? :p

As for Sc2 I've already saying it repeatedly:
8 hours is an achievement. As in that it is possible to beat the campaign in under 8 hours if you are rushing it for said achievement.

Sheesh.

Even so, that is one campaign. You know how long SC 1 took me to beat?

Days. Like, a campaign a day. If that.

I will play when all three races are available in their own campaigns. That is why the game is only 1/3rd done. There are three races to complete/further the story. I want it all, not one at a time. I am not supporting Blizzard's money-hauling.

Okay, I'm not gamer, but I just can't resist that tickling when I watch new Mortal Kombat trailers. In the past days, apart from the 8-bit pirate version of Famicon, called Dendy, I got Sega and, God, how I loved Mortal Kombats 2 and 3. Later, when I got ps2, the 3d adaptations of the franchise made me really sad. But now I just see no other way, but to get Xbox or ps3 with MK9 on Christmas.

Also, can someone please explain me, why pokemons are so popular now? I remember them as some uber-stupid cartoon that looked like crap.

I remember Pokemon being popular in my country about 10-11 years ago or so. Card game, anime, games and some comics. Also lot's of sweets with legal or illegal use of the franchise name. Somwhere around 2003-2004 the boom declined and nowdays I don't see anything like it. Or saw anything like it. The only major manga/anime themed booms I recall are :

Sailormoon boom - I was about six when tv show was aired, I liked it very much, fell sort of in caroon love in Usagi, but my first was Annna from Gigi La Trottola(italian title, I don't know the original) and Lolita from Taiketsu Zorro. Oh, and that chick from Yattaman and General Daimos. Damn, I was unfaithful even to cartoon characters. Should have seen the future coming. Very Happy

Dragonball boom - pretty obvious, I don't know any country that hasn't had at least some major freak fan groups of warriors going over 9000 and on. I was more a fan of the original Dragonball than Dragonball Z but it was the Z series that were mega-popular. 8 on 10 boys were fans of DB or at least watched it regularly or semi-regularly. Also, Saint Seiya was aired shortly after DB, so many liked that one also.

Pokemon boom - as I wrote, cards and anime mostly and some illegal Gameboy ROM gaming. Playing Red & Blue then Silver and Gold and giving tips to ourselves about beating the game, as internet was expensive and provided via dial-up mostly(no walkthroughs), boasting with our uber-trained pokemons... girls despised pokemons, boys mostly loved it.

And nothing more. Yu-Gi-Oh and Beyblayde tried it, but the impact was barely noticable. Along the lines Harry Potter & Tokio Hotel came, and now it's Twilight, although it doesn't have the power of neither pokemania or pottermania.

That is all.

Apart from the fact that Yu-Gi-Oh had a half-successful movie in America? Or the fact that every kid had a Beyblade?

I was talking about response in my country.

Yu-Gi-Oh cards were never popular, so much as anime and they stopped airing Beyblade after few episodes. Toys weren't selling good either.

Getting back into playing FFIX. Love that game so much. I love all the Final Fantasy games, but what's strange is that I never get around to finishing any of them....

Did you hear about one guy who got pissed at square enix because he hated the most recent final fantasy, so he took out whatever shares he had and got over 26 million dollars?

He invested in square before final fantasy 1 saved their asses.
