Roads nothing. There isn't a single gritted pavement in London, or so it seems. So, you have to either slip-slide along an ice-rink that should be a pedestrian walkway or, if there has been a thaw, slosh through ankle-deep slush that systematically fills your shoes with water until every step is a *squelch*. 
Winters here in the UK are nice for a day or so (pretty snow) and then pretty much suck for the rest of the time.

That slush really enhances ones feets smell too, yummy is it not?
