Unforseen Complications

There's no doubt about it: Science has achieved wonders and changed the world for the better in so many ways. However, you really need to give some applications a little thought. As Scarlet and her sisters have found out, there's no point fixing a problem in a way that guarantees that it will never reoccur if you break the entire system in the process.

What Art is witnessing here is the ultimate in engineering missed points: The "The 'Plane That Never Flies Will Never Crash" fallacy.

The problem? The Quads are going to keep trying and, in the process of trying to get it right, may unleash even more random havoc!

No, Neutronium is a hyper-dense fluid, not a metal.

It's probably an exotic material; metallic dark matter or something synthetic using close-packed iron and uranium nuclei as the base of its structure. Call it 'Pseudo-Unobtainium' if you need to give it a name!

Well, whatever it is, the (theoretically) simplest solution would be to just replace the appropriate wheel parts with ones made of the same material.

He should, just count his blessing they didn't use the Bio-Metal...

Depleted uranium comes to mind, although to be honest, I'm no metallurgist. I imagine there's any number of real life alloys that would fit the bill. After all, it just has to be impractically heavy for a scooter.

A chunk of neutronium* that size would be so dense it would have simply ripped down to the center of Earth's core or blown up as it decompressed, turning Art's house into the molten center of an active volcano. That would definitely have ended Sequential Art and a fair chunk of Britain.

* Neutronium is degenerate matter, atoms squished by gravity so tightly that they no longer are atoms, but a bunch of subatomic particles that are imitating these people. The only place this stuff occurs naturally is the innards of a neutron star. As for the "neutronium" used in science fiction, one SF writer came up with hyponeutronium, which is basically an imitation of neutronium, tough and dense, but not so much as to be unusable. Of course, hyponeutronium is pure science fiction.
